đ¤Can we repair your cylinder?Updated 2 months ago
At Motoscoot we offer a specialized service in the repair of aluminum cylinders with nickel-silicon coating (Nicasil). However, not all cylinders are suitable for repair.
Below we explain in which cases repair is possible and in which cases it is not feasible due to technical reasons:
â Cylinders we can repair
- Individual aluminum cylinders with nickel-silicon coating (without integrated cylinder head).
- After the repair, it is common for small porosities to appear in the coating. These do not affect the proper functioning or performance of the cylinder.
â Cylinders we cannot repair
- Iron cylinders with nickel-silicon coating.
- Aluminum cylinders with chrome coating that require welding.
- Cylinders that show large porosities or extensive porous areas.
- Cylinders with severe damage that require major reconstruction by welding (e.g. broken exhaust, cracked neck, damaged exhaust bridge).
- Cylinders with multiple seizures and material tearing in the transfer and exhaust areas.
- Cylinders with wear beyond the maximum recommended, unless an oversized piston can be installed. In that case, we will contact you before proceeding.
- If an increase in the cylinder diameter is requested, it will only be possible if a minimum thickness of 2Â mm in the neck and sufficient wall in the intake, exhaust, and transfer areas can be guaranteed.
đ Before sending your cylinder, please review these requirements to confirm whether it can be repaired.Â
